The outdoor condenser unit sits outside the house, usually on a concrete pad along an exterior wall, and houses the compressor and condenser coil. Inside, the air handler or furnace-and-coil assembly mounts in a utility space, basement, or attic, where it connects to the duct system and moves conditioned air through the home.
